Spectrum LW-ASA UltraFoam is a professional technical filament that combines the excellent UV and weather resistance of ASA with advanced active foaming technology. Thanks to the unique properties of the material, it allows for up to a 3-fold reduction in the weight of printed parts without compromising strength or surface quality. LW-ASA UltraFoam is the ideal solution for users seeking lightweight, durable, and visually attractive prints for outdoor and technical applications where weight and efficiency are critical.

The filament is based on the proven Spectrum ASA 275 formula, enriched with additives that allow for controlled expansion during printing. The foaming process is activated at a temperature of around 230 °C, with the maximum effect achieved in the range of 270 °C–285 °C. When printing below 230 °C, the material behaves like standard ASA 275, providing users with great flexibility when tuning print settings.

In a fully foamed state, the filament expands up to three times its original volume and achieves an extremely low density of approximately 0.33 g/cm3. LW-ASA UltraFoam provides the user with exceptional control over material flow, which can be reduced by up to 66%. The degree and rate of foaming can be precisely adjusted by changing the print temperature, allowing the density of specific parts to be customised as needed. The foaming effect also supports faster 3D printing by enabling thicker layers or full contours with a single wall.

With Spectrum LW-ASA UltraFoam, it is possible to achieve a significant reduction in the weight of printed parts – up to 34% compared to traditional ASA, and in extreme cases, even up to 3x.

The matte and textured surface effectively hides layer lines and gives the final part a professional appearance. The degree of foaming also affects the shade of the material – as expansion increases, the colour of the filament may noticeably lighten. Furthermore, the filament retains all key properties of ASA – high UV resistance, dimensional stability, and mechanical strength. It is the perfect choice for projects where every gram counts, such as RC modelling, drone construction, or lightweight functional components.
