JR1650 v2.1 is a compact MP3 module designed for insertion into gift cards, boxes and promotional materials. It allows playback of custom audio files, which can be easily uploaded via USB. The module is equipped with an integrated speaker and a rechargeable battery. It offers several trigger versions: button, light, magnet, greeting card opening, or vibration. Trigger behaviour, such as skipping to the next track, pausing, or playing only while the card is open, can be configured in the configuration file.

• Variants:
  • Button version: playback is triggered by pressing the button. The IO mode determines the behaviour for subsequent presses, holding, and releasing the button, such as skipping to the next file (01), playback only while held (03), or pause (05).
  • Light version: playback is triggered by illuminating the sensor, e.g. by opening a box. With IO=03 or 04, playback stops (or finishes the track) in the dark; in other modes, it continues even after the sensor is shielded.
  • Card version (contact): playback is triggered by opening the card. With IO=03 or 04, playback stops (or finishes the track) after the card is closed; in other modes, it continues after closing.
  • Magnetic version: playback is triggered by moving the magnet away. When IO is set to 03 or 04, playback will stop (or finish the track) when the magnet is brought closer; in other modes, it continues even after the magnet is brought closer.
  • Vibration version: playback is triggered by vibration detection, e.g. after placing or moving the object. Vibration does not have a permanently active state, therefore modes 01, 02, 05 and 06 are suitable.

Instructions for uploading audio:

• Turn on the module using the switch on the board (ON position).
• Connect the module to the computer using a micro USB cable.
• The module will appear as a removable disk (e.g. "USB Drive").
• Delete the original files (if any are stored).
• Copy the new file or files in .mp3 format.
• To change the volume or trigger mode, edit the config.txt file in the root directory of the drive and save it.
• Safely disconnect the module from the computer.
• The audio will now play upon activation according to the selected version (button press, light exposure, opening the card, moving the magnet away, or vibration).

Important: the module must be switched on using the power switch first and only then connected to the computer. If the USB is connected first and the module is switched on afterwards, the USB drive will not be displayed.

config.txt file parameters:

• VOL: volume 0–30 (default VOL=30)
• IO: trigger mode (default IO=01)
  • 01 – Play with skip: activation starts playback; each subsequent activation during playback immediately plays the next file.
  • 02 – Play without skip: activation starts playback; further activations during playback have no effect.
  • 03 – Play during activation: playback continues only while the trigger is active. It stops immediately upon deactivation.
  • 04 – Play during activation with finish: playback continues while the trigger is active. Upon deactivation, the current track plays to the end and then playback stops.
  • 05 – Play / pause: activation starts playback, the next activation pauses it, and the following activation resumes it.
  • 06 – Play / stop: activation starts playback, and the next activation stops it completely.

Activation meaning for individual versions:

• Button: activation = button press, active = button held, deactivation = button release
• Light: activation = sensor illuminated, active = sensor illuminated, deactivation = sensor shaded (darkness)
• Card (contact): activation = opening the card, active = card open, deactivation = closing the card
• Magnet: activation = moving magnet away, active = magnet moved away, deactivation = moving magnet closer
• Vibration: activation = vibration detection, no permanently active state
