The Raspberry Pi Camera v1.3 module with a 5Mpx OmniVision OV5647 sensor is used for taking photographs and recording HD video directly from a Raspberry Pi. It connects via a flat cable to the CSI connector, so it does not occupy any USB port. It is suitable for time-lapses, home camera surveillance, robotics, and image processing and recognition projects.

The camera works with all Raspberry Pi models that have a CSI connector. You control it via the modern libcamera/rpicam-apps stack and the Picamera2 library; older MMAL and V4L2 interfaces are also supported. The sensor has a fixed focus and a replaceable lens, allowing you to adapt the objective to your application.
