The SMD soldering educational kit with a rotating light effect is an ideal way to stress-free practice and refine your surface-mount device soldering technique. The double-sided 90 × 60 mm PCB features footprints for packages ranging from tiny 0402 up to an integrated circuit in a SOP-16 package, allowing you to gradually gain experience with all common sizes. Once assembled and powered, the NE555 timer and CD4017 decade counter sequentially light up 10 red LEDs in a circle, while 4 blue LEDs flash in the corners. The reverse side of the board serves as a practice area with pads up to the QFP44 package and also as a ruler showing PCB trace widths.

Important assembly notice:

• The schematic included in the package does not correspond to the current version of the board. When assembling, refer to the current schematic and components list found in the product photo gallery.
• Check the resistors of the functional part of the circuit (R48–R68) according to the code on the case before soldering (e.g. 103 = 10 kΩ, 205 = 2 MΩ, 4320 = 432 Ω). The values of the supplied components may differ from the parts list – any missing values can be easily supplemented, for example, from the 0805 SMD resistor set.
• Pay attention to the polarity of the LEDs and LL34 diodes, as well as the orientation of transistors and integrated circuits (pin 1 mark).
• If you are soldering SMD components for the first time, it is worth watching a few video tutorials beforehand. Start with the larger 1206 and 0805 packages and gradually work your way up to 0603 and 0402.
