The ESP-01 WiFi and Bluetooth module from AI-Thinker functions as a wireless adapter and also as a standalone microcontroller with the ESP8266 chip.

This module can be used either standalone or with another board, such as the Arduino Mega 2560 as a wireless adapter. This board has 2 IO ports and UART (RXD TXD).

The ESP8266 chip is a modern chip designed for the needs of connecting to the world. It offers a complete and comprehensive WIFI network solution, allowing you to either provide an application or utilise all network functions from another wireless implementation.

It differs from the ESP-01 with extra 512MB of flash memory.
