The GeB 32140 sodium-ion (Na-ion) cell, with a capacity of 10 000 mAh and a nominal voltage of 3.0 V, is a modern representative of a new generation of rechargeable batteries that utilise abundantly available sodium instead of more expensive and less ecological elements such as lithium or cobalt. The energy capacity is approximately 30 Wh. Compared to traditional lithium-ion cells, this battery type offers lower production requirements, a smaller environmental impact and significantly higher temperature resistance – operation is possible down to −40 °C.

Unlike older sodium technologies, such as molten salt sodium-sulphur cells, this battery operates at normal operating temperatures and does not contain reactive metallic sodium. It utilises a similar design to Li-ion batteries, including advanced elements such as a self-healing SEI electrolyte or an optimised anode with low tortuosity.

The cell does not include a protection circuit, and BMS for this type of accumulator are not yet available on the market. Therefore, charging requires a CC/CV mode charger with a cut-off voltage of 4.0 V – never use chargers designed for Li-ion (4.2 V), LiFePO4, NiMH, or NiCd. Overcharge, over-discharge, and short-circuit protection must be provided by your application.

Due to its design and parameters, the cell is a suitable choice for solar energy storage, backup power supplies, or research and development projects where stable power is required even under demanding conditions. Batteries are supplied partially charged (60–80%), which extends their shelf life during storage. If you will not be using them immediately, you can leave them as they are; we recommend charging them before use.

Important Notice and Safety:

• Do not discharge below 1.5 V; deep discharge permanently reduces capacity.
• Never short-circuit the positive and negative terminals with conductive material; do not puncture, crush, or mechanically damage the cell.
• Do not install the cell with reverse polarity and do not connect it to an electrical socket or any other incompatible power source.
• Do not charge or use the battery unattended. Check the condition of wires, contacts, and circuits before each use.
• Do not expose to high temperatures, direct sunlight, or fire. Do not immerse in water or other liquids.
• Due to its cylindrical shape, ensure the cell does not fall from a table to avoid denting.
• When connecting in parallel, both cells must have identical voltage. A larger voltage difference may lead to the cell overheating and its potential destruction. When charging two parallel cells, the charging current is divided between them.
• Do not transport or store cells together with metal objects (keys, clips, necklaces, etc.).
• Store in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources.
• In case of any swelling, odour, overheating or change in shape or colour, immediately stop using the battery and disconnect it.
• If electrolyte leaks and comes into contact with the eyes, rinse the eyes with clean water and seek medical attention immediately.
• Clean contaminated contacts with a dry cloth before use.
• For disposal, always insulate the contacts against short circuits and deliver the cell to a collection point.
