The VL53L5CX laser distance sensor from STMicroelectronics is an advanced Time-of-Flight (ToF) multi-zone distance sensor with an I2C interface. Unlike single-point sensors, it can measure distance in multiple zones simultaneously – up to 8×8 (64 zones) – creating a depth map of the scene. Thanks to invisible 940nm laser technology, it operates reliably regardless of the target's colour or reflectivity and without interference from visible light. The module is ideal for presence detection, gesture recognition, motion tracking, spatial mapping, or touchless control.
