Product detailed description
The RFID/NFC reader with the NXP PN5180 chip operates at a frequency of 13.56 MHz and, in addition to standard ISO/IEC 14443 cards, supports the ISO/IEC 15693 (vicinity) standard, which allows it to achieve a significantly longer reading range than modules with MFRC522 or PN532. With compatible ISO15693 tags (e.g. NXP ICODE SLIX), it can read card IDs from a distance of around 15–20 cm. The module communicates via the SPI interface, supports both reading and writing of tags, and is suitable for time and attendance or access control systems, asset tracking, libraries, or interactive DIY projects with Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi.
Specifications:
- Chip: NXP PN5180
- Operating frequency: 13.56 MHz
- Supported standards:
- ISO/IEC 14443-A and 14443-B (MIFARE, NTAG etc.)
- ISO/IEC 15693 (NXP ICODE)
- FeliCa (up to 424 kbit/s)
- NFC Forum tags type 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
- NXP MIFARE Classic (Crypto1 encryption)
- EMVCo
- Function: tag reading and writing
- Interface: SPI (+ BUSY signal)
- Power Supply:
- +5V: 5 V for the transmitter section (RF)
- 3.3V: 3.3 V for logic and interface
- Logic levels: 3.3 V
- Current consumption: up to 250 mA (during transmission)
- Reading distance: 0–200 mm (depending on tag type and size, maximum range with ISO15693 tags)
- Pins (13 pins, 2.54 mm pitch): +5V, 3.3V, RST, NSS, MOSI, MISO, SCK, BUSY, GND, GPIO, IRQ, AUX, REQ
- Compatibility: Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, Raspberry Pi
- Recommended libraries: PN5180-Library (ATrappmann) – ISO15693 and ISO14443, arduino-rfid-PN5180 (playfultechnology) – ISO15693
- Operating temperature: –20 °C to +80 °C
- Dimensions: approx. 70 × 40 mm
- Compatible tags from our range (ISO14443A):
- Similar readers:
Important wiring notice:
- Connect both power inputs – +5V and 3.3V. Without 5 V, the transmitter section will not function and the reader will not detect any tags.
- Data pins operate with 3.3 V logic. Connect the module directly to ESP32, ESP8266 or Raspberry Pi; for Arduino Uno/Nano (5V logic), use a logic level converter.
- In addition to SPI (NSS, MOSI, MISO, SCK), you must also connect the BUSY and RST pins – the libraries require them for communication with the chip.
- Only the ISO15693 standard offers long range. For this, you will need ISO15693 tags (e.g. NXP ICODE SLIX) – they look the same as standard MIFARE cards, but they are different tags.
- The supplied card and key fob may not work with all libraries – the arduino-rfid-PN5180 library only supports ISO15693. For standard ISO14443A cards, use the PN5180-Library with ISO14443 support.

Mně to chodí, ale ne s dodanou kartou a rfid tagem - musel jsem použít jiné tagy, zvlášť objednané z aliexpressu.
