The HC-06 Bluetooth module allows your board to wirelessly send and receive serial data via Bluetooth – to a mobile phone, computer, or another Bluetooth-enabled board. The module behaves like a standard UART (TX/RX), so on the microcontroller side, Serial or SoftwareSerial is sufficient, with no special library required. It operates exclusively in SLAVE mode – waiting for a connection from a phone or another module in MASTER mode (e.g. HC-05). It is typically used for controlling robots and cars from a mobile app, wireless transmission of measured data, or as a USB cable replacement during debugging.

Important wiring notice:

• Wires are connected crosswise: module TXD to board RX and module RXD to board TX.
• If you are connecting the module to a 5V board (Arduino UNO, Nano, Mega), feed the signal into the module's RXD via a voltage divider (e.g. 1 kΩ / 2 kΩ) or a logic level converter. The TXD output (3.3 V) is read by a 5V Arduino without any modifications.
• For Arduino UNO/Nano, do not use pins D0/D1 (hardware Serial) if you are simultaneously uploading a program via USB – the module would block the upload. Use SoftwareSerial on other pins.
• HC-06 uses classic Bluetooth 2.0 (SPP), which is not supported by iPhone (iOS). For iPhone, use a module with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), e.g. HM-10.
• AT commands only work in the unpaired state (LED flashing).
