What is a TFT Display?
A TFT display (Thin Film Transistor) is a type of LCD display (Liquid Crystal Display) that uses thin-film transistors to enhance image quality. Each pixel on a TFT display is controlled by one or more transistors, enabling faster refresh rates and, consequently, smoother and sharper images. Thanks to this technology, TFT displays are ideal for projects requiring high resolution and vibrant color representation.
TFT displays are full-color screens with a multitude of pixels, each composed of three subpixels:
- Red,
- Green
- and Blue.

Here you can also find touchscreen TFT LCD displays, which employ two principles:
1) Resistive — They consist of two flexible transparent layers coated with resistive material and separated by air or tiny balls. How do they work? When you touch the display, the layers connect, and the board calculates the touch location. For more precise interaction with the display, we recommend using a stylus pen; using a finger might be less accurate.
2) Capacitive — They detect touch by measuring changes in capacitance, enhancing sensitivity. In contrast to resistive screens, they cannot be activated by any object.
