The Good Display GDEM042F86 is a 4.2" electronic paper display with a resolution of 400×300 pixels, an SPI interface, and the ability to display four colours – black, white, yellow and red. Fast refresh takes only 12 s and, according to the manufacturer, optimised control gives the display approximately one-third lower power consumption than standard four-colour ePaper displays. The image you display lasts indefinitely without power – simply show the image and then turn off the power; the content will remain on the display. The display is therefore ideal for low-power devices powered by solar sources or batteries, such as information boards, nameplates, price tags or weather stations.

E-Ink (or E-Paper) is a so-called electrophoretic display, i.e., a display containing particles in microcapsules dispersed in a thin layer of viscous solution. By applying a short pulse, the particles move towards the front of the display and the pixel changes colour. The high viscosity of the solution causes the particles to remain in their position practically permanently.
